This animated film portrays Stephen Leacock’s witty and justly famous account of a young man’s first attempt to open a bank account. When he goes in to make a deposit, the man is so overwhelmed by the institution that nothing he says comes out right and he finally flees in confusion. The film employs a cut-out, comic strip style that involves minimal gestures by the characters and very subtle use of the camera to underscore Leacock’s penetrating commentary on the superior attitudes of financial institutions and their personnel. My Financial Career received an Academy Award® nomination for Animated Short Film.
