An unnamed gay man (Callum Keith Rennie) framed in one of four quadrants talks about his relationship with his deceased lover Frank – and particularly of Frank’s rather large member – in a bold, funny and moving monologue. The other three frames – which contain a variety of images, from gay porn to nature films to clips from Madonna’s “Erotica” video – coalesce with the protagonist’s narration to create a powerful and bittersweet rumination on love, loss and life as a gay man. Frank’s Cock won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno International Film Festival and was named Best Canadian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival® in 1994.
