This penetrating, perceptive and deeply felt documentary – made for the CBC television series Document – is unquestionably the most insightful film about the Vietnam War produced while the war was in progress. It was also one of the first films to deal in a serious way with the impact of the war on the Americans who fought it and the South Vietnamese who were being "saved" from Communism.

The Mills of the Gods: Viet Nam earned filmmaker Beryl Fox a pair of Canadian Film Awards, including the Film of the Year prize and a TV Information Certificate of Merit.
