This panoramic direct cinema documentary centres on people working in Quebec’s forestry industry who questioned the social and economic consequences of exploiting natural resources. Bulbulian’s film is a classic example of the Quebec social documentary of the early seventies in its tendency to rely on extensive descriptive imagery, interviews, documentation and, in particular, minimal analysis – in contrast, for example, to Arthur Lamothe’s earlier Bûcherons de la Manouane.
