This poetic and richly textured documentary focuses on Newfoundland-born David Blackwood, one of Canada’s foremost etchers. While Blackwood takes the viewer through a step-by-step explanation of the etching process, the filmmakers intercut scenes of his outport home with vivid tales from an old mariner recalling the seal hunts and a way of life that has now vanished. Blackwood received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Documentary Short.
