This direct-cinema social documentary establishes a parallel between two working-class situations: the miners of both Chile and Quebec, who worked for foreign-owned multinationals. One year after the nationalization of the Chilean mines under Salvador Allende, a group of Quebec miners visits Chile to observe the new conditions.

Richesse des autres is an important example of the tendency by several Quebec filmmakers in the seventies to move beyond the concept of “ethnic class” and explore ideas of social and economic class. A shortened version, Salvador Allende Gossens: A Testimony, was released in 1974.
