Denys Arcand’s fourth feature, Quebec: Duplessis et aprPs ..., is a documentary report on the 1970 Quebec provincial election (originally titled, more appropriately, Duplessis est encore en vie) which draws a parallel between that provincial electoral showdown and the 1936 campaign dominated by Maurice Duplessis. The film shows the hope, but also the uncertainty, that existed in 1970 and concludes that little has changed in Quebec politics or for the people of la belle province.

Music by La Chorale de l’Église de Deschambault.
