Catherine Martin, who received international accolades for her sensual debut feature Mariages (2001), achieves a dreamy beauty in her majestic film Océan. An elegy to a dying form of travel, Océan follows a train of the same name from Montreal to Halifax, stopping along the way to discover the railway’s impact there. Martin’s graceful composition of shots and exquisite sense of duration and movement make Océan a breathtaking experience.

Océan was named one of Canada’s Top Ten of 2002 by an independent, ten-member national panel comprised of filmmakers, programmers, journalists and industry professionals.
